New Features & Enhancements

Ability to Change Web Addresses/Urls - Administrators now have the ability to change the web address/url of pages or groups within your community as well as the web address/url of the community itself. To change the web address/url of a page, click on manage community or manage group, and then click on the page you want to change in the list on the left. You will see the option to change the web address/url of the page along with the other settings in the center column. You can change the web address/url of the entire community, or of a group within the community by clicking on Community/Group Info & Settings within the manage community or manage group area. Please note that you can only change the web address/url of your community if it is still using the orbius.com domain name. If you want to map your own private domain name to your community you will still need to contact support@orbius.com to do so.

Ability to Copy and Replace Pages - If you click on an existing content page application from within the manage community or manage group area, you will now see an option to copy that page. That will allow you to copy the entire contents of the selected page either to a new page, or over another existing page. This will allow administrators to make changes to a copy of a live page, instead of directly to the live page itself, and then replace the copy page back over the live page when they are done with their changes.

New Features & Enhancements

Updated & Reorganized Community and Group Administration Areas - The administration area for communities and groups has been updated and reorganized. The application and menu item tree will now always be available on the left column since that is the most often used administration page. If you click on an application in the tree on the left you can edit its settings and update its permissions.

The manage members page has also been updated to have the same functionality as the member directory listing page. You can now search for members by name or by member profile information, you can sort the list of members, and you can export the list of members to excel. This has replaced the old member reports page which was having problems generating reports for larger communities.

A group administration area has also been added which will provide a similar interface for managing groups as there is for managing communities.

Updated the File Manager Button - The file manager button that was introduced in the last release in the text editor has been updated to fix a number of issues that have arisen. Administrators can now upload files directly to the text block, as well as to ContentSpace. Files uploaded directly to the text block will be deleted when the text block is deleted, so it should be used for files that are only used in that text block and nowhere else on the site. Non-administrator members will only have the ability to upload files to the text block, and not to ContentSpace since they do not have access to it. There is also the ability to manage the files that have been uploaded to the text block so that files that are no longer used can be deleted.

New Features & Enhancements

Updated Email Notification Preferences - On the 'My Account Settings' page you will notice that there is now a link to the new email notification preferences page. This page now allows you to subscribe or unsubscribe to each application within the community (or group) separately. This will give users much greater flexibility to choose exactly when they receive an e-mail notification about new content being posted to the community, and reduce email noise. In addition to the notification settings page, there is now a checkbox on comment walls, and discussion forum topics which allows each user to choose whether or not they want to receive an email notification when someone posts a comment or replies to the topic.

From the administrative side, site administrators can choose which applications will send out email notifications about new content in the 'Applications & Menu Items' page in the 'Manage Community' area. Also, email notifications will no longer be sent to community members when content is edited, only when it is initially published.
Text Block File Manager - A new button has been added to the text editor that can be found within the text block widget and anywhere else that the full text editor appears. The new button looks like the following: and it allows you to add a link in the text block to a file that has been uploaded to the ContentSpace area. It also allows you to upload new files to ContentSpace and organize them into folders. This will replace the old 'Attachments' feature on the text block and it gives the user the ability to modify the file link text and place it wherever they want within the editor.

New Features & Enhancements

Directory Application - A new directory application has been added to the platform. The directory application allows you to create a searchable directory of any type of listings. It could be a directory of products, places, or people for example. The directory application allows you to define what the listings are called, and what information is captured for each listing so you can customize it completely to your needs.

Member Directory Application - The existing members page has been combined with the new directory application to make a more robust member directory application. In addition to showing a searchable listing of all of the community members, community administrators can now also add new members to the list who have not joined the community. This will allow organizations to keep a directory of all of their members even if not all of the members have registered on the online community.

AddThis.com Content Sharing Support - We have added support for the AddThis.com content sharing/bookmarking service within the Orbius platform. You will now see a "+ Share" button next to most publicly visible content within your Orbius site. This allows users to share or bookmark that content on hundreds of sites around the internet. Doing so will increase the search engine ranking of that content, and your website. If you would like to track the usage of the AddThis buttons on your website, you can sign up for an account on AddThis.com and enter your account name in your Orbius community in the 'Third Party Tools & Services' section within the 'Manage Community' area. You can also turn off the AddThis.com buttons if you do not want them in your site.

This release contains a number of bug fixes and small system enhancements, and also includes the release of the new video gallery application.

The video gallery application allows community members to share videos hosted on a variety of third party video hosting sites such as YouTube, Google Video, and Yahoo Video among others. If there are any sites that you want to see added to the list of supported video hosting sites in the video gallery application, please let us know and we will work to support them. You can add a video gallery to your community using the 'Add An Application' link under the 'Manage Community' drop down list.

New Features & Enhancements

You can now add and edit text files from within Content Space. The types of text files that can be edited are .txt, .html, .css, and .js. If you click on a folder within Content Space you will see a button that allows you to add a blank text file of one of these types. When you click on the file you will be able to edit its contents in the file preview area.
You can now register links to external css or javascript files in a text block. When you edit a text block you will see a new 'Manage Scripts' link at the bottom. Clicking it will bring up a dialog where you can enter a link to a css or javascript file that you want to be included in the text block. The system will ensure that each file is only linked in once even if it is registered in multiple text blocks on the same page.
Lastly, you can now enter custom HTML in the community footer area. On the footer settings page in the manage community area there is now a rich text editor instead of a simple text box for the footer message.

New Features and Enhancements

New Widgets Added - New widgets have been added to allow Twitter feeds and TinyChat chat rooms to be placed on pages in the community. Using these widgets you only have to enter the required settings and the code is put in for you so you no longer have to paste the code into text blocks manually.

Updated Menu Item Tree View - The menu tree view on the left side of the 'Features and Menu Items' page and the 'Configure Permissions' page has been updated with new icons to help community owners more easily identify what type of feature each item is. Each feature and menu item type has its own icon and the icon will appear lighter if the item is hidden and not displayed on the menu.

Browser Page Title Update for Blog Posts - When viewing a blog post, the browser page title will now be set to the title of the blog post instead of the name of the community. This will help search engines be able to more easily identify the key words in the title of the blog post and index them accordingly so the post will appear higher in searches for those words.

Bug Fixes

Fixed a bug with changing the name of a page in the 'Features and Menu Items' section. From now on when you change the name of the page the change should be instantly reflected in the menu tree on the left and on the community navigation menu along the top.

Fixed a bug with removing a member's nick name. If a member removes their nickname in the 'My Community Settings' page it will now revert back to using the first and last name they entered when they registered in the community.

New Features & Enhancements

Updated ContentSpace Feature - The ContentSpace feature has been updated to allow files to be easily organized into folders instead of one flat list. There is now a tree view on the left side that allows you to browse the files and folders you have created. You can also upload up to 5 files at once and there is an upload progress bar so you can follow the progress of large uploads. When you click on a file to view its details you now can see more information about the file including icons to easily identify the file type and previews for images.

Data Collection Form Tool - There is now a new data collection form tool that can be used to allow users of your community to submit comments or feedback to the community owners. In the standard version of the tool you can choose from pre-configured form templates which you can then customize to look how you would like. In the premium version of the form tool you can create and edit the form fields to collect different information from users. Please contact sales@orbius.com for information on upgrading to the premium version of the form tool.

Google AdSense Widget - There is now a Google AdSense widget that allows you to put advertisements on your site that are linked to your own Google AdSense account. You can sign up for Google AdSense at http://www.google.com/adsense.

New Features

Support for Google Webmaster Tools
In the Manage Community area there is now a section entitled 'Google Tools' which is where you can set up Google Analytics and now Google Webmaster Tools as well. You can sign up for a webmaster tools account at www.google.com/webmasters.
Custom HTML Community Header
Under the header section in the Customize Your Theme page there is now a text block that allows you to enter custom HTML to use for your community header. This allows community owners to design their own header area using text, links, tables, etc.
New Features and Menu Items Page
The features and menu items page in the Manage Community section has been updated to make it easier to organize the features and pages in your community and control how they are displayed in the community menu. The main page in the features and menu items area contains more detailed instructions on how to use the new interface.
New Configure Permissions Page
The configure permissions page has also been updated to make it easier to use, especially for larger communities with lots of features and members. The features list on the left hand side is now a tree like on the features and menu items page instead of a flat list. To add new members or groups to a feature's permisisons there is now a type-ahead text box that will allow you to search from the members and groups in the community to find the one you want to add.
Page-Specific SEO Settings
In the features and menu items section, if you click on a particular feature you can now set the page title, description, and search keywords for that page. This gives community owners more control over how each page within the community is seen and indexed by search engines.

Tonight we have upgraded to version 3.0 of the Orbius Social Community Platform. The 3.0 version primarily consists of significant changes to the underlying code which will prepare us to implement a number of new features and enhancements that we have planned for the near future. The first of these new features is an integrated help system that will be available to members and administrators of Orbius communities.

Orbius Help System
The new help system can be accessed at any time by clicking on the question mark icon next to your name in the title area of the member toolbox widget on the right hand side of every page. In addition, new members will see a 'Getting Started' widget on their member pages to help them get started using the community. The default 'Getting Started' widget text can be seen under the 'Community Member Help' section of the help system, but community administrators also have the ability to customize that text to be more specific to their community in the 'Manage Community' area.

The help system content will continue to be filled out over the next few weeks.

Updated Text Editor
In this release we have also introduced the updated version of the text editor that is used for rich text formatting throughout the site. It looks and works the same as the old version, but it should now work in the google chrome browser and several other bugs have been fixed as well.

New Features & Enhancements

Enhanced Survey Feature - The survey feature has been updated to allow invitations to take surveys to be sent out to a list of email addresses of people who are not members of the Orbius community. The invitation emails contain an invitation code that ensures that each response to the survey can be matched to the person who submitted it and that each person can only participate in a survey one time. The surveys feature can now be added by using the 'Add New Feature' link instead of through the manage community area.

Increased Member Privacy - The content within a member's page in a community is only visible to other members of the community by default, and non-members see the access denied page if they try to view a member's page. However on the access denied page the member's name and picture are visible, so their name can be indexed by search engines, which is a privacy concern for many users. All information about the member has been removed from the access denied page shown when an unauthenticated user tries to view their page. This should prevent members' names from being indexed by search engines unless they specifically choose to have their member page be public.

Version 2.4.2112 was one of many small patch releases that were put in place over the past few weeks to address bugs and smaller usability issues.

New Features & Enhancements

New SEO Options - Some new options were added to the 'Name, Icon, & Description' page within the manage community area to allow for better search engine optimization (SEO). You can now set the title of your community separately from the name so that search engines can index a longer, more descriptive title. In addition you can now also add search keywords that will be placed within the HTML code of the page and picked up by search engines.

Consolidated Administration Links - The links under the administration section of the toolbox on the right hand side of all communities have been consolidated into manage community and manage group drop down lists. This greatly reduces the amount of space these links occupy on each page as well as provides easier access to some of the more commonly used management features.

Search Added to Manage Members Page - A member search box was added to the manage members page in the manage community area to allow community owners to find specific members easily without having to page through a long list.

Bug Fixes

When someone encounters a no-access page and then logs in, they will now be properly redirected to the page they were initially trying to view.
The advanced search option should now work correctly in the group members page.
Adding attachments to text blocks within a library page should no longer create a bad link on the library homepage.
A user's email address will now be shown next to their name when they request membership in a community so that the community owner can contact them if necessary.

New Features

Updated e-Newsletter Feature - You can now add an e-newsletter to your Orbius community through the 'Add a New Feature' link instead of through the 'Manage Community' area. The updated newsletter feature allows you to create and manage a distribution list of email addresses that each posted newsletter will be sent to (in addition to all community members). Newsletter emails sent to non-members through the distribution list will contain a link at the bottom to allow the user to unsubscribe from the newsletter so that it is CAN-SPAM act compliant.

Notification Preferences - There are new notification preferences in the 'My Account Settings' page to give members more detailed control of the emails they receive. Members can choose to receive an email notification when new content is posted in the community such as blogs, newsletters, forum posts, photos, etc. and alo when someone comments on their member page.

Block Members - Members now have the ability to block other community members from contacting them. You can block a member by clicking the 'Block Member' link on the member's home page, or in the popout box that appears when you hover the mouse over the member's name or picture.

Report Content - Members now have the ability to report content that they find to be abusive or inappropriate to the community administrators for review. There is a 'report' link that now appears next to comments and forum posts which will allow you to report the post. When content is reported the community administrators will receive an email with a link to the content in question and can choose to delete it if they agree with the complaint.

New Features

Member Activity - New member activity feeds have been added to let users easily see what other community members have posted. In the community member's page you can now see a list of all recent community member activity as well as your favorites' activity and your connections' activity. You can also view recent activity by type (i.e. forum posts, blog entries, calendar events, etc.). On users' member pages there is now an activity feed showing what that member has posted in the community as well as any updates on that member's page.

Fans and Favorites - You can now add other community members to your list of favorites. This will let you follow their activity within the community. Your list of fans will show you what other members have added you to their favorites list.

Member Privacy - Previously member pages were either publicly visible to anyone on the internet or private and visible only to their connections within the community. Now, by default, member pages will be visible only to other members of the community and not to anyone on the internet. Members will still have the option to make their page publicly visible to anyone on the internet or only visible to their connections within the community.

Bug Fixes

The member's page within a community is now able to be permissioned like all of the other features.
The 'Everyone in Orbius' group in the Configure Permissions area has been renamed to 'Non-Members' to alleviate confusion about what this means.
Community owners now have ownership rights to all of the groups created within their community, even if they are not a member of the group.

New Features

Edit Page Layout Update - You no longer need to click the 'Edit Page Layout' link that used to appear in the 'Administration' area on the right side of the community pages to edit the layout of the page. When you move the mouse over the title area of a widget that can be edited or moved, the appropriate buttons will appear allowing you to edit, move, expand, collapse, or remove the widget from the page. To add new widgets, move your mouse over the area outlined with a green dotted line at the bottom of any column. The 'Add Widget' button will appear which you can click on to add a widget to that column.
Add To Group - Community administrators can now add community members directly to a group within the community without having to send the member an invitation and wait until they respond. This should make it easier for community administrators to set up groups of people who should have elevated privileges within the community without having to wait for each member to respond to an invitation. Only administrators of the entire community will have this ability and they will see a new 'Add to Group' button in the 'Invite Members' dialog in addition to the regular 'Send Invitations' button.
Ability to View Full Size Pictures - When viewing a picture in an image gallery, you can now click on the picture which will display it full size in a new browser window.

Bug Fixes

A bug on the outstanding connection requests page which caused the name of the member making the request to not be displayed has been fixed.
A bug which caused italicized text to display as gray has been fixed.

"White Label" Community Redesign

All of the features that were previously only accessible outside of the communities are now accessible while inside any community. You can check your messages, notifications, and connection requests for a community from within the community. You can also change your account settings (e-mail, password, etc.) from within a community.

The user panel shown on the right side of the community pages has been redesigned to provide easier access to the many available options available to community members and administrators, including the new options listed above. Private label licensed communities will now also have the option to remove the ribbon bar that is shown by default at along the top of all Orbius communities.

Drag and Drop Page Layout

Community administrators can now customize a page layout with drag and drop editing. Click on the EDIT PAGE LAYOUT on the Administrative panel on the right to use the feature. To arrange widgets within a page left click on a widget's move button and drag the widget up or down within the column. You may also collapse a widget's content, making it easier to arrange the page's layout, by clicking the widget's collapse button .

New Social Catalog Feature

You now have the option to add the Social Catalog feature to your community. This feature allows you to set up a catalog of information relating to your community that community members can contribute to and update. For example, if you had a community about golfing, you could set up a catalog of golf courses and define exactly what information you want to store about each course. Then community members can add different courses to the catalog and browse the courses other members have entered. The social catalog also includes an approval workflow process that will allow community administrators to approve additions and updates to the catalog before they are applied.

Feature #219: Rating of content. Major content (Library pages, Pictures, Blog postings, Ask an Expert Topics) will have a “1-5 content” rating. Additionally, in some areas “wall” comments can be rated via a polar rating system (up/down or yes/no style).
Feature #101: Library and Menu now support adding a “file repository” page that allows users to upload of files. This is a “granted feature” meaning that Orbius must enable this for an Orb to be able to use this feature. This is because our production environment does not yet have the Server 2008 x64 virus software installed because it’s not available from the vendor.
Feature #507: ContentSpace implemented. ContentSpace allows Orb owners to upload various electronic assets to a location within their orb that they can link to from other places. These pages and images aren’t necessarily available from the menu.
Feature #511: Featured Content. This feature has two parts: First, editors can mark content as “featured” most applications. Second, these featured items can then be referenced by a Featured Item widget that will show the featured content (either per category or all combined). This widget can be placed anywhere, including the Orb home pag
Features #525: When viewing a user or persona (essentially anywhere you see a thumb of a person) the user will have the option to connect with that user (be a fan or friend) through a pop-up menu.
Feature #528: When viewing the membership list in an Orb, the left navigation side will provide search capabilities. This will include basic search parameters as well as searching by public membership persona questions/answers.

2.0 Release Notes

Persona Upgrades	As some of the terminology used previously on orbius.com are not clear enough, we have made some significant changes: · A person’s dedicated page within an Orb community is now called a “Membership Page” and the term previously used is Persona. · When joining an Orb, you can choose to either reveal your own actual identity or “remain anonymous within this community”. · Making a connection made in one community means that you are always connected to that person, not only in the orb that you made the connection (unless the person is anonymous). This greatly simplifies the connection process and makes a much larger social graph.
Security Enhancements	· To increase the level of security of your orb, users are now unable to enter extended HTML like javascript, and input forms · All posted HTML comment is now parsed to ensure that it’s HTML compliant. Tags and attributes that are dangerous are removed.
Survey Tool	· This is a major new feature that allows users to create a survey so you would no longer have to use external survey services for your own website. · Orb Community owners can add a rich multi-question, multi-step survey to their Orb with the ability to place a customize invitation widget anywhere on their site. · Initial version has a very simple reporting process (XML) but future releases will include a WYSIWYG report. · Survey settings are customizable to each orb, with the default being that an Orb gets 1 step with 10 questions.
Default Member Image (Avatar	Orb Communities can now set their own default Avatar so if the user doesn’t upload his or her own image, they will acquire the default orb avatar image.
Search Engine	Our search engine has been replaced with lucene.net. New search options allow users to search within orbs for specific types of content and also filter on date.
Usability	Many, many general product usability enhancements. Below is just a partial list of the changes that have been made: · With regards to connection requests, users can now immediately choose the category for a given request. · Member listing page now includes an upgraded presentation. Clicking on a user dynamically expands so that users’ record and shows available public information about that user. · Users can use their Orbius Id to log in (not necessarily an email address).

Orbius is officially launched!!!!

We have officially launched www.orbius.com.

If you note the version number, we're at Version 1.2. Until now, Orbius has been in Private Preview mode (or beta).

We thank the users who have helped us vet our system during the Private Preview phase.

While we still have lots of work to take the system to the next level, we trust that we have provided a good set of functionality to begin inviting the general public to give us a try.

But we won't be making any huge annoucements for a while. We hope to get lots of feedback from more people and provide a series of quick iterative releases before we crank up or PR engine!

· Most recent activity widget: a widget that allows users to show what is new in a given application feature (Forum, Calendar, etc.) When adding new applications, this widget is automatically included (it can be removed).

· Idea Factory: an application that allows an Orb owner to solicit ideas from the community. Ideas are rated, and can be acted upon. Orb owners can configure whether or not ideas must be approved to be listed on the site.

· Blog Enhancements: new views and additional settings are now available to the owner to better control their blog.

· Ask an Expert Enhancements: When asking questions or getting an answer from a question, notifications are sent out.

· Orb Offline: An orb community can be taken offline so that an Orb owner can make structural changes. When the owner is done, the orb can be re-enabled.

· File Attachments: files can be attached to most pieces of data, including Forum Posts, Events, Textblocks, Calendar Events, etc.

· Usability enhancements: Left navigation for nearly all features has been refactored to be consistent, and easier to use. Primary actions (such as asking a question in the Ask and Expert feature or posting a new post in the Forums) are larger buttons that more obvious to users. Managing categories/folders has also been made easier. In v1.6, users will have more control over how their navigation looks & feels.

· Technical enhancements: storage for content was upgraded to make some searching functions easier. A fix was put in place to reduce the number of DNS look-ups on the home page.

· Bug fixes: Approximately 75 other defects have been addressed.

Orbius has reached yet another significant milestone, we have just released the new version 1.3 to production. It now contains more useful community tools and functionalities to our users and presents greater value for our target customers.

Here’s the summary of the new features:

You can now rate content: in Library pages, Images, Blog postings, Ask an Expert Topics. Additionally, in some areas “wall” comments can be rated via a polar rating system (thumbs up/down or yes/no style). You can also select the rating options you want, such as stars or smileys.

· Upload documents: Our Library now allows users to upload of files. However, we need to enable this function for an Orb so that you can use this feature.

· New Menus: Now Orbius has enhanced menus so you can easily nest items. Plus you can add a hyperlink right to your menu and point to an Orbius page or even an external site.

And you can move menu items around. In this example, a menu item for "Blogs" has been created and two blogs are moved underneath it.

ContentSpace implemented. ContentSpace allows Orb owners to upload various electronic assets to a location within their orb that they can link to from other places. These pages and images aren’t necessarily available from the menu.
Featured Content. This feature has two parts: First, editors can mark content as “featured” for most applications except those on the blank page and in the library. Second, these featured items can then be referenced by a Featured Item widget that will show the featured content (either per category or all combined). This widget can be placed anywhere, including the Orb home page.




Pop up menu for personas/profile When viewing a user or persona (essentially anywhere you see a thumbnail of a person) the user will have the option to connect with that user (be a fan or friend) through a pop-up menu.





More search functions When viewing the membership list in an Orb, the left navigation side will provide search capabilities. This will include basic search parameters as well as searching by public membership persona questions/answers.

Your private information is safe Indexing of content by search engines is not allowed on private Orbs.

More Video uploading support: Support for new embedded video types: KickApps, Ning, and JustinTV. To do that, simply add a textblock and inside it, click on and you will be guided to insert the video. You can choose a variety of video providers.
In addition, you can choose a provider, search for your video (or put in a specific url) and you'll have embedded video in your Orb in no time at all.
